Pioneer Park Hanau

Background

Pioneer Park Hanau is one of the largest urban development projects in the Rhine-Main region. A modern, sustainable residential area for up to 2,500 people is being built on the approximately 50-hectare site of the former Pioneer Barracks. Special attention is paid to the integration of green spaces and sustainable concepts, such as mobility stations.

The project is being developed by LEG Hessen-Hanau GmbH, a joint venture between the city of Hanau and the DSK | BIG Group. The mobility stations were implemented in cooperation with Stadtwerke Hanau and GP Joule. The architectural design of the energy center was created in cooperation with the company GETEC.

Design

The striking design feature of each station is the electrical distribution box, which expressively highlights the new mobility services. The stations are equipped with different furniture depending on their size. The energy center was also integrated appropriately into the design, creating a connection to the neighborhood’s mobility options through its material, color, and structure.

Project development

The design of the mobility stations and the energy center was carried out in close consultation with the project promoters. A dense network of mobility stations of varying sizes was created throughout Pioneer Park. These are strategically distributed throughout the neighborhood and make a key contribution to sustainable and future – oriented mobility in the residential area.

Module catalog

The module catalog offers a selection of functional components for various requirements in public spaces. The modules cover key needs of modern mobility – including bicycle parking, repair stations, e-bike charging stations, bicycle racks, benches, and central electrical distribution boxes.

All elements are modular and can be flexibly combined or expanded. This allows each station to be individually adapted to the respective location and usage requirements – from a compact basic offering to a fully equipped mobility station.

Module development

The central electrical distribution box forms the heart of every mobility station. Its cladding consists of powder-coated metal elements combined with expanded metal cladding, which gives it a robust and at the same time modern look. The station number is clearly visible and prominently painted on the surface, which makes orientation easier. Soft lighting in the head element ensures that the station remains discreetly and safely visible even in the dark – without unnecessarily illuminating the surrounding area.

Implementation

In 2020, the first mobility station was opened in Pioneer Park. In the following years, further stations were continuously completed and gradually handed over to users in the neighborhood. This gradually led to the creation of a comprehensive range of modern mobility solutions throughout the entire residential area.
