Mobile Mobility Hubs Frankfurt Airport

Introduction

The mobile mobility hubs were designed specifically for the growing network of cycle superhighways. They offer cyclists everything they need on the road: A station for quick bicycle repairs, the opportunity to change tires, information material on the regional cycle path network and comfortable rest areas. Robustly built, sustainably designed, and strategically placed along bike paths, the hubs are a forward-looking contribution to promoting environmentally friendly cycling.

Modules

The stations of the mobile mobility hubs have a modular design and can be flexibly adapted to different locations and requirements. In addition to a main module with an integrated repair unit, the station is supplemented by a tube vending machine. Optionally, bicycle racks, a simple guidance system, and garbage bins can be integrated. All modules are robust, weatherproof, and designed for long-term use in public spaces.

Main module

The centerpiece is the main module, equipped with an integrated repair unit for minor maintenance work and a seat for short breaks. The module is available in two versions – with or without a roof – and can be illuminated if required to enable safe use in the evening hours or in bad weather.

Mobile use

The modules are specially designed for mobile use and can be set up at another location at short notice if required. This flexible use is made possible by a lower tray with integrated weights that can be filled with sand or water tanks. This ensures that the modules remain stable even without fixed anchoring. Ideal for temporary use or changing requirements in public spaces.

Implementation

The pilot project was implemented in collaboration with Fraport AG directly at its headquarters at Frankfurt Airport.
